Great Hairdressing Predictions for Summer Hair 2015
How should you wear your hair this summer if you want to look on-trend? With the sun now regularly peeking out from behind the clouds, the team at Great Hairdressing have turned their minds to summer hair styles and are here to share their predictions on how men and women will be wearing their hair over the warmer months.
Tortoiseshell Balayage at Great Hairdressing
When it comes to hair colour, we predict there will be huge demand for warm colours such as golden blondes, caramels, honey hues and chocolate shades. The ecaille or tortoiseshell balayage will prove popular as it melds together these warmer colours to create a look that has darker roots that gradually lighten through to the ends of your hair. We also reckon we’ll see more sunkissed hairstyles with gentle blonde wisps of hair framing the face.
Silver Tones for Summer Hair
It’s been around for a while now but, until now, silver hair has only really been seen on the catwalks and the boldest of celebrities. We predict that silver-hued hair is about to become mega popular as it overtakes the 2014 trend for pastel hair colours such as pinks, blues and lilacs. While pastels will still be popular, silver is the colour of choice for fashionistas.

Long Bobs like Cheryl Fernandez-Versini
When Cheryl Fernandez-Versini changes her hairstyle, you can bet we’ll all follow suit. The long bob – as seen on Cheryl recently – is one of the most asked-for hairstyles at the moment and is likely to continue its rise in popularity. Also favoured by Gwyneth Paltrow, Taylor Swift and Fearne Cotton, it’s easy to see why we LOVE the long bob. They have shown how versatile this style can be, wearing it straight and shiny one minute, slicked back the next and then in gorgeous gentle waves!
Messy Casual Hair with a 1970s Vibe
We’ve seen a huge surge of interest in hair and fashion from the 1970s. So if you’re going to wear trousers with a flare and pretty flowered maxi-skirts and dresses, you really should have a hairstyle to match. The Great Hairdressing stylists predict summer hair will be long and gently messy with a feathered fringe that just skims your eyes. Think Brigitte Bardot in her heyday!
Men’s Hair Trends for Summer 2015
For men this summer we reckon it will all be about ‘disconnected styles’. This is where there is a disconnect between the length of the hair at the sides and on top. Very often the hair is clippered or shaved so it is very short at the sides and back. The hair on top can then be left as long as the client wants depending on the look he wants to achieve. Longer hair will take more time to style but it also means you can achieve more looks – slick it back, wear it with volume to one side, quiffed or straight up in spikes.
