With Easter just around the corner we decided do some research into all things Easter – from traditions to eggs and we’ve even thrown in some fun Easter hairstyles!
If you’d like a hair appointment you’ll be pleased to learn that most of our salons are open over the Easter period – although we will be closed on Easter Sunday (April 5th) which is the oldest and probably the most important festival on the Christian calendar.
Easter Sunday is a time when most of us get together with our families, share a meal and eat lots of chocolate eggs. It is also the day that that Jesus was said to come to life after being crucified. At Easter time Christians remember the last week of Jesus’ life. Easter also signals the end of Lent, the traditional time of fasting in the Christian calendar.
When it comes to food, the Simnel cake (see above) is the traditional cake of Easter. It’s a light fruit cake with two layers of almond paste or marzipan – one in the middle and a toasted layer on the top. It’s said that the word simnel means ‘intended to please.’
While the Simnel cake sounds yummy, our vote goes to this Chocolate Chiffon Cake with Salted Caramel Butter Cream (pictured right). It consists of a chocolate sponge, salted caramel butter icing and ganache topping. Who says you can have too much chocolate? Not us!
And while you’re celebrating Easter and tucking into all sorts of delicious treats, it’s important to look your best! With that in mind check out these fun hairstyles for children. Perfect for Easter!
